There are some exciting developments happening over the next few months which will help us to improve both how we communicate with you and enable you to access information regarding your children securely online.
Firstly I would like to tell you about Ranger Outpost, which is available via the downloads section on all of our websites (Alderman White, Bramcote Park and White Hills Park Federation). This is a small software program that will allow your child to access their school files and folder from home, work on them and then load them back to their school user area. You just need to download and install the software and then your child can log on with their school username and password. We do monitor what has been transferred into school from home so no MP3’s or anything inappropriate please!
A really exciting development will see the introduction of an email and text messaging communication system which will enable us to contact you quickly with important information directly to your mobile phone or inbox. For example, think about the winter when the Federation schools were closed due to snow and ice and you were listening intently for the next radio update about which schools are closed. This technology will mean that we can get this information to you immediately as soon as a decision has been made. We will also be looking at other positive ways in which we can use this system, such as messages about outstanding work or progress by your child.
Finally are also introducing an online portal that will enable to see your child’s attendance, progress reports and other information securely over the Internet, think online banking but with your child’s school information. The Federation has been selected for the Nottinghamshire County Council pilot before a county wide roll out to interested schools and we will be testing this out over the next few months before launching this to everyone during 2010/11 academic year.
Don’t worry if you do not have a mobile phone or access to email and the internet, we will ensure that we continue to communicate with everyone. However it is important that the school holds the correct information for you so please do make sure you update your telephone numbers, address and email address with us so that you do not miss out. |

We would like to congratulate our 11 pupils across the Federation who have completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. They received their certificate and badge in a presentation evening held at Alderman White on the 13th April. Mr. Kevin Dean and Mrs Helen Redford were present at the awards ceremony, along with staff members Karen Walsh and Gill Snow who co-ordinate the DofE. The pupils have worked tremendously hard to achieve their award including a two day hike in the White Peak with one nights camping. They also had to complete sections in a skill such as cooking, a physical such as tennis and a volunteering section such as working in a charity shop.
We are very proud of these pupils who have shown determination, organisation, stamina and resilience. We hope they will continue with their silver Duke of Edinburgh award at Bramcote College.
There are also another 22 pupils still to complete their DofE and we hope to have another presentation evening before the summer holidays to celebrate their achievement.
The pupils in the picture are as follows: Tom Carr (BH), Matt Dreschler (BP), Leanne Thorley (BH), Ashley Matthias (BH), Jenny Taylor (AW), Harley Andrews (AW), Sian McKechan (BH), Ella Fox (BH), Alex Carver (BH), Helen Sillandy (BH), Abby Hellon (AW).
